Sometimes life doesn’t turn out the way you planned it. When we are kids, the world seems like an opportunity to achieve all our goals and to be happy. Then, life intervenes, tragedies occur, and we get derailed somehow.
This was the life of Van Tolliver. He had big dreams. Both he and his wife were focused on achieving their dreams and building their respective careers, often at the expense of each other and their marriage. Van thought he had plenty of time to repair the problems in the relationship. That is, until he walked in on his wife with another man.
Van’s life fell apart. He quit his job, moved back to his home town, and started working at his brother’s liquor store. He gave up on love, on life, on himself.
Evolution of a Deep Bruise resonates with that part of us all that remembers the big plans we had as kids but recognizes that somewhere along the road life happened. It reminds us that it’s never too late to try and that succeeding isn’t the goal. The real story is in the attempt.
