Murder by Proxy

ISBN: 0-7599-4522-5
Fiction, Mystery, Thriller
Reviewed by Carrie White

The President of the United States of America is dying; his body ravaged with leukemia. His only chance to beat this disease is a bone marrow transplant. However, he has no relatives that could help him. Or does he? In the grip of chemotherapy, the president reveals he has a daughter from a previous relationship. Only she could possibly help him now. But she, doesn’t know anything about her father and isn’t likely to want to, either. Can Benjamin Roan find her, convince her to save her father from certain death and keep them both alive against an outside force who wants them both to fail?

Murder by Proxy is a gripping tale of intrigue, murder and fight for survival. I found myself rooting for Roan on more than one occasion and fearing that there wasn’t a possible chance that he could get out of yet another sticky situation. As well as keeping Benjamin Roan on his toes, Robert Hecker does a terrific job of sustaining interest and concern for all of the lives uprooted in this battle of endurance. Murder by Proxy has to be one of the best thriller novels I’ve read in a long time.
