As a response to a statement in December 2004 by the United States National Commission on Writing which reported that businesses were spending $3.1 billion a
year to teach employees to write clearly, author Philip Yaffe decided to take matters into his own hands. As a former reporter and feature writer with the Wall Street Journal, as well as working as a marketing communication consultant in Brussels,Belgium, he drew on his years of working and teaching to put together this helpful guide.
His vision was to create a new type of English guide; focusing on the fundamentals of English as a language. By using a logical and concise yet focused approach to learning English, his approach is different to most coaches. With sections dedicated to clarity, conciseness, and density, especially when linked to good writing, one will find this guide most helpful in sprucing up their language skills in both speaking and writing.
Aimed specifically for the busy individual, I can see how this book can help those professionals on the move to streamline their time by focusing on their speaking and writing skills. The chapters were organized in easy to follow sections and very logical to understand. Definitely a guide that I could suggest for those wanting quick results for little time!
