They say a dog is man’s best friend, but maybe not every man.
In Grounds for Love, Maureen Mackey introduces us to Ty Weston, a coffee entrepreneur, and Jenny Vaughn, a talented publicist who only drinks tea. Ty is forced to hire Jenny by his financial backer or else he will not get the money to open his new coffee house. Unhappy about being bullied, but wanting his business to succeed, Ty reluctantly agrees to hire her. But after meeting Jenny, Ty knows that he wants her to be more than his publicist. Unfortunately, Baby, Jenny’s loyal, four-legged companion, doesn’t like Ty.
Jenny is bound and determined to figure out why her dog doesn’t like Ty, because she is slowly taking a liking to him. Even if he won’t stop trying to get her to leave the business she has created to become his employee. And Ty doesn’t think Jenny is too bad, either. Even with the beast of a dog attacking him every chance he gets. But Jenny trusts Baby’s instincts in people, so how will she be able to make it work with Ty if Baby can’t get along with him?
Grounds for Love is a fast paced read with witty dialogue and simple, yet lovable characters. Throw in Jenny’s meddling sister, Ty’s jealous business colleague, and the secret that could shatter Jenny’s trust in men completely and you have yourself a real story. A clever and cute twist at the end makes this a fun story to read on a snowy afternoon.
