I Will Not Be Broken
Jerry White
St. Martin's Press
ISBN:  978-0-312-36895-1
Non-Fiction, Self Help
Reviewed by Vianna Renaud

In this incredibly inspiring guide, author Jerry White will lead you along the steps to overcoming hardship with the goal to recreate a happy and fulfilling life. As a recognized leader of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines and the co-recipient of the Nobel Prize for Peace, he uses his extensive background as well as his personal experience, he outlines an effective five-step program for turning tragedy into triumph. Not only focusing on getting through the tragedy, he stresses the importance of continuing to thrive in spite of the loss. Whether it is through the loss of a loved one, a painful divorce, or a serious life altering injury, this book will inspire you to push through the time times to the light at the end of the tunnel.

This book was refreshingly easy to understand while staying quite positive and supportive. I enjoyed the structure of the book which had dedicated chapters on a variety of aspects including how disaster strikes everyone, the various five steps of facing facts, choosing life, reaching out, moving, and giving back.

Mr. White also highlights how to escape the victim trap, building resilience to tragedy, how to help others get through tough times, and how to survive, inspire, and thrive. With the proven talent to combine a variety of aspects, from personal journey to professional experience, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a practical approach to changing their life for the better.
