Every month, thousands of people start up their own blog. At first, the prospect is exciting. They write several times a day: about their dog, their daily life, or their hobby. They check their stats hourly in hopes that someone has read and replied to their posts. After a few weeks and only a handful of site visitors, the postings fall off to once a week. By month end, most new bloggers have already decided to retire.
Blog Blazers interviews 40 of the most successful bloggers. The definition of success is a slippery slope for these individuals. A few make a good deal of money directly or indirectly from blogging. Others use their blog to voice their views or as promotional vehicle for their other projects. Most simply say that success is subjective and completely dependent upon the purpose of the postings.
In the sections on advice for new bloggers, there is much agreement. Consistent writing, good editing, focus on a particular subject that will interest others, and a clean layout are amongst the most common answers. Most bloggers also suggest reading other blogs. In this way, potential bloggers will learn what works and what doesn’t as well as if they’ll quickly run out of topics to write about. Blog Blazers contains invaluable information that anyone thinking about blogging should heed.
