While certainly not for the general public, Jay Goldman's Facebook Cookbook will be a valuable resource for anyone interested in going beyond basics of Facebook and building applications. Since Facebook has become the social networking choice for many professionals and organizations, this book will fill a need not only for those in professional organizations who want to jazz up specific professional images (think librarians for example), but for the more technologically inclined in those professions.
The content is laid out nicely in ten chapters from introduction to marketing your finished application. Each chapter is laid out sequentially and has a nice problem-solution format to address the most frequently encountered queries a user will encounter while learning the material. Relevant references including current developer's blogs and wikis are listed at the end of several chapters. In addition, the book comes with a 45 day free access to the online edition, a big benefit for those who are primarily visual learners.
This is a great addition to any academic library supporting an information technology curriculum as well as public libraries with current computing/technology sections.
