As one of the first librarians in Maine to use open source library software, I'm very interested in how the open source movement is progressing. The capable authors who collaborated on Using Drupal are as committed a group to the open source concept as one would find anywhere. This book reflects both their enthusiasm and their knowledge. I hesitate to categorize the book as not for beginners as anyone who has an interest in either open source or Drupal has probably acquired sufficient knowledge to understand and benefit from reading this book.

This book will be beneficial to anyone wanting to understand what different modules are out there, but will be more useful for those who really want to jump in and get something started. When read in conjunction with the online version of the book as well as the extensive resources that have been created by the Drupal community, readers/users of this book will feel pretty confident in their ability to 1-understand what Drupal can do, 2-articulate to others in an organization or business what benefits Drupal will have for that entity and 3-be able to utilize many of the examples/modules discussed in this book quickly.

This is another work that needs to be in any academic library supporting an information technology curriculum, any public or high school library where patrons have an interest in technology and the internet as well as making a nice gift for the geeks in your family.
