Trigger Point Therapy for Myofascial Pain: The Practice of Informed Touch is a text for healing touch practitioners. This book includes illustrated representations of each set of muscles and trigger points (active and latent) within the human body. For each of these groups, locations of proximal and distal attachments are noted so that the reader understands the appropriate direction of palpation and specific location of the musculature. Moreover, both stretching and strengthening exercises are supplied for each of the most common sources of myofascial pain.

Although directed at professional healing touch practitioners, and thus somewhat technical in nature, I found this book extremely interesting and very helpful. I found it beneficial to actually see the musculature so that I could understand the significance of the actual pain centers. I hadn’t realized that pain in seemingly different parts of the body were actually muscle group related. I also really liked the strengthening and stretching exercises that I could do on my own to alleviate my present and future pain. It is for these reasons, that in addition to those professional healing touch practitioners wanting to stretch their skills or needing a good myofascial pain reference book, that I also suggest this book to those who suffer from chronic pain and those that do any sort of physical activity that could result in muscular pain and fatigue.
