This is a great book for the novice web builder and anyone who is new to Dreamweaver. Each chapter is short and concise; reading the text takes 10-15 minutes with the remainder of the hour lesson spent on the quizzes and hands on exercises. There are extra exercises included for those who want to hone their skills as they go along or perhaps for review purposes.
As a new Dreamweaver user, I appreciate Betsy Bruce's enthusiasm; her style is clear, easy to absorb, and she is very good about keeping within the confines of this book; mainly building static pages and creating simple Java programs and applets. She begins with a quick run through of Dreamweaver, then moves on to basic HTML and images then DHTML.
In addition, Bruce teaches the reader how to design a layout with tables and frames, how to construct and use interactive forms on a site, and add audio and video touches to a website. This fourth revised edition is a great starting point for learning Drea, weaver.
This book is an enormous improvement over the tutorials I found on the web for Dreamweaver. I had a bit of difficulty finding where the menu items were located; but that is often a sore point when learning a new program. The CD is a nice addition and I found the books homepage interesting; you can also post questions to the author there. I have never built a website but with the help of Dreamweaver and this very good SAMS book I intend to try my hand at it, once the holiday madness is finished.
