It’s the inevitable circle of a woman’s life. As young girls, we test our Mother at every opportunity. She just doesn’t seem to understand that we just want to make mud pies and have fun. The situation only grows worse as we grow into young women when our Mother continuously wants to limit our freedom and give us advice that we certainly don’t need. Then a strange thing happens. We become mothers ourselves. We worry endlessly about our daughter, wanting only the best of everything for her and the hopes that maybe her path will be just a little smoother than our own.
Lying to Our Mothers takes the reader through the somewhat tumultuous relationships between women, particularly between mothers and daughters. The book evolves in topic, voice, and tone as it proceeds to illustrate the changing attitudes of women as they move from daughter through Mother.
Lying to Our Mothers is a collection of poetry that all Mothers and daughters will cherish.
